Lori Burne, MS, SE
Principal & Senior Structural Engineer
At the start of her career, Lori worked in private industry as a bridge engineer. After eight years, she shifted her focus to commercial and residential building structures and opened Burne. The demand for her services grew rapidly. Her work ethic and reputation for quick response created a loyal client base of engineers, architects, designers and contractors.
In just a few short years, Lori transformed Burne into a thriving business that employs more than a dozen engineers, drafters and support staff. Every Burne employee shares Lori’s passion for high-quality structural design and commitment to fast response – from planning through construction.
Molly Iley, PE
Senior Bridge Engineer
Molly Iley, PE, has more than twenty years of experience in structural design, analysis, EQ retrofit, rating, strengthening and rehabilitation of highway bridges and transportation structures. She is a licensed civil engineer in Florida and California. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from California State University at Sacramento. Molly has worked closely on the Plan, Specifications and Estimates (PS&E) phase of over 100 bridge structures in California throughout her professional career. She has also worked for Caltrans and other Local Agencies as a Construction Inspector and as a Structures Representative on bridge construction projects.
Steffani Chin, PE
Associate Engineer
Steffani Chin, PE is a licensed civil engineer in California and earned her Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from California State University at Sacramento. Steffani has been designing buildings with Burne since 2011 and has supported all of her structural design work during construction. Her previous engineering experience included transportation design and drainage design.
Yekaterina Gelfand, MS, PE
Associate Bridge Engineer
Kate Gelfand, MS, PE, is a licensed civil engineer in California and earned her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Civil Engineering from UC Davis. Kate has more than five years of experience in structural design, retrofit, inspection and construction of bridges and transportation structures. She has field construction experience in highway bridges, having provided and assisted in construction support and inspection services during all phases of design and construction. Kate currently works on bridge and building design projects.
Alban Gjongecaj MS, PE
Associate Engineer
Alban Gjongecaj, MS, PE, earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Civil Engineering from California State University at Sacramento. Alban has three years of experience in structural design, retrofit, construction support and inspection of residential and commercial buildings. He also has experience performing independent checks, seismic analysis and quantities calculations for bridges and retaining walls. Alban has worked on various bridge-related research projects, focusing on California Wide Flange Girder, precast bent cap systems and anchorage to concrete.
